About the centre



History of the City Center for Human Reproduction has its origins in 1987. At that time center was located in the status of an advisory clinic and was called the “medical-social assistance to the family”. The facility was established by order of the Department of Health of the Executive Committee of the Almaty City Council in Almaty. With the opening of the clinic patients have a unique opportunity to go study in the presence of hereditary diseases in the medical genetic counseling and get expert advice of experts in the department of “Marriage and Family”.


Since 1988, the clinic “Medical and social assistance to the family” is directly involved in organizing the inspection of children for phenylketonuria (PKU); genetic counseling families of TB patients; traveling seminars for head doctors of maternity homes and child care centers senior midwives and clinical laboratory; supply patients with PKU. This has allowed the clinic to achieve positive results in the detection of diseases and to increase the professional level of senior and middle staff.


Thus was the beginning of the organization of the centre for monitoring mass screening of newborns for phenylketonuria in Almaty on the basis of the consultative polyclinic “Medical and social assistance to the family”.


In 1991 by order of the Department of health of Almaty city clinic “Medical and social assistance to the family” was transferred to the hospital of the former City hospital №3 with 100 beds.


Also in the clinic system was introduced prenatal medical examination, created the Commission to solve the issue of termination of pregnancy or transmission for further prenatal clinical examination in the antenatal clinic in each case. This allowed us to provide care to newborns with diagnosed congenital malformations in the prenatal period.


Clinic “Medical and social assistance to the family” in 1993 was renamed "City center of human reproduction" (ССHR), and from this period the order of the chief of the Department of health of Almaty city center took about organization-methodical management of the family planning offices of the city.


In 1995 on the basis ССHR there was opened laboratory of in vitro fertilization. In 1996 in Kazakhstan on to program ECO first baby was born.


Today the City center of human reproduction is a unique institution in which to receive counseling and treatment of patients with reproductive disorders, children and adolescents with urological and gynecological problems. In addition the Center provides medical and social assistance to children and adolescents.


In CCHR conducted invasive examination methods (chorionic villus sampling, placentocentesis, amniocentesis, cordocentesis), hormonal and cytogenetic studies, and karyotyping. The center also has the capability of conducting prenatal diagnostics of congenital malformations and hereditary diseases.


Patients with gynecological diseases in the City center of human reproduction can get full medical care. For this Center has all the conditions, in particular the provision of hospital care, including adolescents, ranging from conservative treatment to conduct a large volume of surgery of diseases of the sexual sphere with the latest technology for diagnosis and treatment. Specialists of the Center successfully performed the most complex gynecological operations, minimizing the rate of complications. Since 2003, the hospital Center is equipped with endoscopic system (laparoscope and hysteroscopy).


In the City center of human reproduction employs highly qualified specialists who have passed training in leading clinics of Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Israel and Korea. The Center, equipped with modern equipment, patients from all over Kazakhstan. A lot of attention in the City center of human reproduction given to the introduction of new technologies that allows an informative survey, but and effective treatment of patients.


Since 2010, the Center successfully performed screening program for detection of congenital malformations and hereditary diseases, which significantly reduce infant mortality. In 2015 the order of Department of Health of Almaty City center of human reproduction was created a single centre for prenatal screening.
